Winter
Indoor Lacrosse Clinics
Please note that we are unable to offer Winter Clinics for Boys in January/February 2023
Swax Lax Lacrosse runs indoor clinics for boys in K–3rd during January and February. The clinics are generally offered once a week and are one-hour in length. Groups are usually divided by grade, and where appropriate, by ability level. Friends can always be placed together upon request. Check out a typical agenda for more detail. Swax Lax Lacrosse clinics are designed for boys who are ready to learn the sport, or who want to take their skills to the next level in the off-season. No prior experience is necessary. We reinforce the basic skills of catching, throwing, cradling, ground ball pick-ups, dodging, shooting, and defensive stickwork, while staying true to the Swax Lax Lacrosse spirit of building confidence and having fun!
For intermediate players, we reinforce the fundamentals, while also working on becoming comfortable with the non-dominant hand, cutting and catching on the run, shooting technique, footwork, and the basics of draw control.
Spring
Swax Lax Lacrosse does not currently offer any programs in March and April because most of our staff either coach or play for their own school teams. However, beginning in mid-May as the college and high school seasons wind down, our coaches run pop-up clinics, birthday parties, and promotional clinics for town and club teams. Feel free to contact us for more information.
Summer
Swax Lax Lacrosse offers week-long camps from early June through early August at various schools Central New Jersey. While all boys during the months of camps offer the same basic schedule, the agendas vary slightly each week to avoid repetition. We always cover the same basic lacrosse skills—catching, throwing, cradling, shooting, dodging, defensive footwork, and positioning—but we shake things up by introducing different drills and games. After so many years of running lacrosse programs, we have many options for covering the concepts in fun and creative ways. Since players are generally divided up by age and, if appropriate, by ability, the coaches try to introduce more advanced skills and concepts if they think their group is up for the challenge.
At Swax Lax Lacrosse, we offer more than just learning to play lacrosse in a typical day. We teach the boys about the Native American origins of the game with activities that include Native American crafts, stories, and traditions. Many of these traditions ensure that the boys have a great time and continue to stay excited about lacrosse after a full day in the sun. Check out a sample boys’ camp agenda.
Fall
Outdoor Lacrosse Clinics
We offer separate outdoor fall clinics for K–4th grade boys from early September through mid-October on Sunday afternoons. The clinics are usually an hour and 15 minutes, and to accommodate busy schedules, families are offered a choice of time slots and dates. The 3rd graders are offered the option of learning with or without full equipment while the 4th graders get to don the pads. Groups are usually divided by grade, and where appropriate, by ability level. Friends can always be placed together upon request. Check out a typical clinic agenda for more detail.
