At locations where we run boys and girls camps concurrently, we keep them completely separated except during drop-off and pick-up.
We believe some of the magic that is created at our camps and clinics comes from the fact that boys and girls have an opportunity to be themselves without feeling watched by members of the opposite gender.

No, it’s not too late! Our coaches have the amazing ability to coach players of all levels.
What many parents, and players don’t realize is that lacrosse uses some of the important skills taught in other sports, as well as mechanisms from simply throwing a handball.
Many of our players, including some of our coaches, didn’t start until they were in high school, and have excelled to becoming phenomenal lacrosse players in accredited programs.

Swax Lax Lacrosse does not offer elite teams since our programs are geared for beginners and intermediates.

In our experience, we find that carefully selected and trained high school players have a lot to offer younger girls and boys in terms of knowledge of the game and skill instruction.
They also serve as positive role models who inspire the young players to eat well, be fit, and work hard to pursue their goals on and off the field.
Our crew of high school and college player-coaches are closely supervised by adult coaches, and we find their passion and energy make them well-suited for the job.
Also, since they are fresh from the experience of having survived middle school, they are well attuned to what girls and boys would like to hear as they are learning a difficult, and at times frustrating, sport.

Swax Lax Lacrosse is known for its amazing staff.
Our coaches are often referred to us from current and former Swax Lax Lacrosse coaches, as well as referrals from local high school and college programs.
We also offer the ability for our high school coaches to work for community service hours, with the intention of paid work once they are seniors in high school.

We believe the majority of children aren’t ready to play a real lacrosse game until they are in 4th grade.
However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t many fun and fabulous games and activities that teach the basic skills and tactics that children need to play a real lacrosse game when they’re older.
Just ask one of our kindergartners or 1st graders to tell you about “Nuts and Squirrels,” “Sleeping Giant,” or “Shoot and Scoop Relay.” Although these are seen as lacrosse-like games, players at this age are taught more specifically on hand-eye coordination and moving their body as one.
The ability to grasp these basic concepts, leads to a well-rounded player, as we are able to help shape the basics in a lacrosse-oriented way.

Yes! At the start of the camp week, we divide the boys into “clans” and the girls into “color teams” in which they participate and do fun competitions all week long.
This is one of the main ways in which we let the campers experience the joy of being part of a team long before they are able to play in their first game.
