A Typical Day: What to Expect at Fall Clinics
At Swax Lax Lacrosse clinics we typically address two important lacrosse skills each day to focus on. Skills will range from ground balls to throwing, catching, dodging, defensive footwork, and shooting.
We introduce the skill in a fun, age appropriate manner. For some boys it’s a review, for others it’s brand new. For all of them — it’s fun. After the skill introduction, we give them an opportunity to practice the drill with a coach, who pays close attention to technique and correcting improper form.
We then let the boys play a game, which incorporates the skill we have just introduced and practiced.
- Clean Your Room is great for ground balls.
- Lacrosse Skeet is perfect for shooting.
- Sharks and Minnows is excellent for dodging.
The younger boys often don’t realize they are practicing what they just learned. They are having too much fun.
We usually end the clinic with a relay race, which also incorporates the skills they just went over before we award a Player of the Day. Coaches award coveted Player of the Day stickers to players who demonstrate special effort or who master a specific skill.
Bottom line: a typical day at a Swax Lax Lacrosse clinic is just plain fun.
There are no make-up dates for this program. In the event that Swax Lax Lacrosse needs to cancel a session, participants are invited to join us at any fall or winter clinic session in 2020.
Swax Lax Lacrosse will refund registration fees, less a $25 admin charge, for cancellations communicated to us in writing at least two weeks prior to the program start date. No refunds will be issued within two weeks of program start date.
