A TYPICAL DAY: WHAT TO EXPECT AT FALL CLINICS
At Swax Lax Lacrosse clinics, we typically address two important lacrosse skills at each session. Players will learn the proper technique for the basic skills, including: ground ball pick-ups, throwing, catching, dodging, defensive footwork, and shooting.
We believe that regardless of whether our players are learning the skills for the first time or ready to take their game to the next level, the only way to improve is to have a ton of fun and get lots of repetition. After the players have an opportunity to work on technique with the coaches in a small group setting, then it’s time to play games and small-sided scrimmages to show off their stuff!
Here is a sampling:
- Clean Your Room for ground balls
- Lacrosse Skeet for shooting
- Sharks and Minnows for dodging
- 1v1s; 2v2s; 3v3s to simulate game situations
We usually end the clinic with a relay race that incorporates the skills of the day. Finally, coaches award the coveted Player of the Day stickers to players who demonstrate special effort or who master a specific skill.
Bottom line: a typical day at a Swax Lax Lacrosse clinic is just plain fun.
