Boys Clinic Agenda

A Typical Day: What to Expect at one of our fall or winter clinics.

WARM-UP

Stick Tricks

The boys and coaches do stick tricks together while everyone arrives. Stick tricks are a great way to practice stick skills and improve hand-eye coordination.

Ice Breaker Game: “Boys From Mars”

We like to start with an activity that doesn’t involve lacrosse so the newer players feel comfortable. “Boys From Mars” is a tag game that enables the boys to find out lots of things they may have in common like what they had for breakfast or whether they have any brothers.

Dynamic Warm-Up

Boys start with a lap and some stretching to get into the habit of preventing injuries.

STATIONS

STATION 1: Fastest Shot Competition

After learning proper shooting techniques, the boys are challenged to demonstrate the power of their shot by having a coach clock their speed using a radar gun.

STATION 2: Musical Ground Balls

Scooping up a ground ball is a crucial skill on the lacrosse field. In this game, the boys start by lying on their stomachs facing away from the coach. On the whistle, the boys leap to their feet and box out their opponents to come up with one of the balls arrayed on the field. Unfortunately, there is always one less ball than there are boys!

STATION 3: “What time is it Mr. Fox?”

Similar to the classic playground game, “Mother May I?” this game is adapted to help players practice their cradling skills while being pursued by a fox who tells time.

WRAP-UP

Player of The Day Awards (PODS)

The end of the clinic always means it’s time for Player of the Day stickers!! Coaches select a handful of players who earned a coveted Swax Lax Lacrosse sticker for showing special talent or sportsmanship.

Handshake with The Coaches

At Swax Lax Lacrosse, we believe that players should learn to thank their coaches at the end of a practice or game. We start instilling this habit at an early age.
