Top Three Secrets for Swax Lax Lacrosse's Success

Player of the Day Stickers at Swax Lax Lacrosse for Boys

How did we get to be the best lacrosse company in NJ for teaching beginners and intermediate players? Fun, focus, and finesse for sure, but here are the top three secrets to our success:

1. Player-of-the-Day awards

At Swax Lax Lacrosse, we believe that all children should be recognized by the coaches at some point during their time with us for a special achievement. It could be for the longest throw, the fastest shot, or simply for being an awesome teammate and friend. Our revered Player-of-the-Day stickers, usually hand-decorated by the coaches on the girls' side of camp, are often treasured for years to come on bulletin boards and refrigerators.

2. Stick skills with candy

On the last day of camp, we find nothing sharpens the accuracy and power of a young player's shot than a piñata filled with candy taped to the corner of a lacrosse goal. For ground balls, we like to reinforce the importance of getting low to scoop the ball by having the kids pick up candy at the same time they get down for a ball. Stick protection is key in lacrosse, so in order to teach the skill of cradling, we add a little candy to our players' sticks to improve their focus. Hey, it works.

3. Swax Lax training balls

For building self-confidence and reinforcing good stick skill techniques, there's nothing better than our own Swax Lax lacrosse training balls. Invented by Swax Lax Lacrosse director Laura Gump, the balls are the exact same dimensions and weight as a regulation lacrosse ball so they don't bounce out of kids' sticks while they're learning and practicing, and they don't hurt as much if hit as a hard ball. (They're also much friendlier to large screen TVs and other valuable keepsakes if your child loves to practice his stick tricks in the house!) Get in the game!
